The Newsletter went into the mail last week. If you have not received yours, please let me know ASAP. I need pictures and articles for the May issue. Please help me keep the newsletter in business.
As always, loved the Newsletter Margaret. It's huge and I read it from cover to cover. The picture's were awesome. I know it takes a lot of work to put these together and you do an outstanding job.
An update on Bud the Wonder Cat featured in the newsletter. He's at the vet for neuter/declaw today. I didn't want to declaw him but our leather couch will never be the same. Nor will my living room drapes.
Glad ya'll enjoyed the newsletter. There is no deadline, but it takes me a long time to get it all together. I need to start as early as I can. Send me something good!
Deb, Bud is about to become an ex-curtain climber. Poor little feller.
Ahhhhhhh, They can be little stinkers, but oh so cute! I'm about at wits end with mine too. I don't like to get them declawed, but I can't afford to buy a new chair all the time either. I put their scratch pole right along side the chair where they like to scratch and they totally ignore it and go straight to the chair. I had a siamese cat that use to go up one side of the curtin walk the curtin rod and down the other side of the curtin.. Little stinkers they are, but ya gotta love em'.
Hi Margaret, Glad the website is back online! I didn't receive the newsletter, John (my hubby and the santa carver) told me he paid the dues, if he hasn't please let me know. I really enjoy the newsletters. Thanks so much for your help! Hope you're having a good week! Brenna
It is time for me to start working on the next issue of the newsletter. I have received nothing--zip--zero from any member. I do have a member profile and an artist's showcase but that is IT! There are lots of ways all the members out there can contribute. Please everyone send something. Our readers will thank you for it. I am particularly looking for pictures of decorating items. Old signs, game boards, old furniture, rugs, place settings, old portraits, cross stitch, embroidery, weaving, baskets--any kind of handmade stuff. I also need a pet picture, recipes, other collections, favorite bargains and best deals. Go-alongs you have made or have had made for you. I need pictures of the quilt blocks you have made. I need pictures of the auction items you are sending so I can put them in the newsletter and on the website. Please try to find a little something for me!!
Hi Margaret, I've a picture I can send of my 12 block sampler quilt top. It is not a go along to any pfz pattern, but did match my "old" living/dining room decor 10 years ago when i started sewing. After hand sewing 12 blocks it was put away for 10 years & now doesn't match any rooms here anymore, but, I'm thrilled with it regardless. I recently pulled it out of the closet & finished sewing the sashing & frame & now on to the hard part....all by hand. I'd forgetten how relaxing sewing is. I'm already visualizing my "America" queen size quilt for the bedroom makeover...as soon as the bedroom furniture arrives from Lancaster, PA. Mike also has a collection out in the barn of vintage & no so vintage thermometers...if interested I can send a picture of that too.
Send me a picture of the quilt and the thermometers! Bill collects old (read that decrepit) John Deere tractors. I think he had over 50 a few years ago. He also collects antique cars--we have a 31 A Model Ford, a 47 Dodge pickup and a Willys WWII era Jeep. We also have numerous "shells" down in the junkyard. I understand odd "man" collections. I guess it goes along with a wife who collects dishes by the score!
The newsletter will go out 1 May because I have to include the Convention forms. So....if anyone has something to submit---better make it soon. This may be a very slim issue--I have received nothing from our membership.
Margaret, I tried to email the quilt picture a day or so ago, but don't think it went through. I also sent you a private message via this forum. We've a few tractors too but all kubota's....and a 1970 Chevelle SS...nice toys I can't even begin to count the power tools... to give you an understanding he's at least 3 of each & I guess he gets it from his Mom as she used to own 10 hoover vacuum cleaners My camera is with Hayley who's at a Radiology school convention until Friday & so I'll snap some of the thermometers over the weekend.
Got new batteries for my camera! I will try to send you pictures tonight or tomorrow. I have a new camera and new software so we will see how I do. Sometimes I have the "Old Dog, New Trick" syndrome.
Janyce, don't believe that "Old dog" thing! It may take us golden oldies a little longer but we can learn new tricks just as well! I am going to start flying lessons right after the convention and I am going to get my private pilot's license.
Janyce, I did NOT receive your pictures! Please, please, try again! I need them for the newsletter The deadline is next week and the newsletter is coming up pretty slim. I need some articles for this issue! SERIOUSLY!
I'm having email trouble, I can send a regular email, but, for some strange reason, my email won't let me send attachments. I want to help & I've sent you an email with a picture twice but I don't see it in my "sent" file. Same problem while sending to another friend. So sorry!
OK, 'fess up. Who bought the colored fruit mold yesterday???? It would make a n excellent story for the newsletter. Speaking of which, the deadline for submissions is this weekend. Please send me something!
Holy Schneikes! Congrats to the winner! Inquiring minds want to know!!!
Hadn't been on eBay for so long almost forgot my password. I was thinking yesterday that I should have bought myself a mixing bowl set cause I needed a big bowl for salad. Well, after looking at the prices on eBay, I think I'll just keep using my plain white bowl.

I was on e-bay yesterday with my son in law who does a lot of selling and buying ( mostly sports cards). He helped me list something. I showed him the auction for the mold and he couldn't believe it. We saw it when there was 3 hours left. What was the winning bid???
i was bidding on the mold but stopped at 280.00 i think it sold for over 400.i am not sure because i think i had an insane moment when i bid that much and had to stop before i went overboard.i can't believe how crazy i can get in that last moment of bidding that is why i stopped. congrads to who ever won!!!
I received the pictures to go with May's Member profile and am now starting to work putting the newsletter together. If you have something to contribute--now is the time! All the members will appreciate it! I want everyone to post what they like most about the newsletter or what they would like to see in the newsletter and I will work hard to accomodate the requests!
Deb says she has run out of stories but could send me another picture of Bud. Thanks Deb!

I don't really have any stories right off the bat now...but I can send a pic of Mr. Ezra when he arrives? I hope he arrives this week. He's Miz T's 4 yr old grandson! (Miz T was given her peace at the old lady age of 13.7 in Decl 2008) Sue
This doesn't have anything to do with our America but, I love to hear about what people collect. I think you learn so much from others and what they have in knowledge in what they are collecting. I have many collections and one of them is Christmas pins. Ha! I'm sure many of you that collect America dishes are bound to collect something else. I think that seems to be our nature.
It is MOST definitely our nature! I have a section of the newsletter called "Other Collections", for that very reason. Last issue we profiled Deb's huge Belsnickle collection. I don't have an article for this issue if anyone would like to contribute. I don't have a recipe, I don't have an artist's profile, family traditions, favorite go-alongs or any member pictures for my "olds sign and gameboards" article. I guess everyone has been extremely busy and has not had time to contribute-or like Deb says--she has run out of stories! I do have some very interesting pieces of information that I am sure our members will love, however, I would love to have a little more input from our quieter members!
I'm not a quieter member but I could send you a picture of my 500+ piece Precious Moments collection if I still had it but I don't. I cannot believe the money I spent on those things - I don't even like them now. I kept about a dozen or so but only have one on display - a motorcycle:) I did however meet a bunch of nice people when I was active in the PM community that I am still in contact with - like my peeps on my Relay For Life team.

I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is...the newsletter is not finished. I was hoping to get it finished before my eye surgery--but could not. Ok, I said to myself--I'll get it done right after the surgery. Yeah right! I am having blank spots in my field of vision. My doctor did not use the "tumor" word but he very quickly scheduled me for a CT scan with contrast, tons of bloodwork, a neurological workup and a MRI. The neurologist has scheduled me for an EEG. AAARRRGGGHHH! I am spending more time with doctors and taking tests than I am spending with my husband. I feel good--I am certain I will be fine.
The good news is the issue of the newsletter is fabulous. A few teasers: I know who won the colored food mold. I figured out who it was and asked. She is one of our members and had already started writing an article when I emailed her! Our member profile is not a "SHE". A member sent me an email with the makings of a great "From the Archives" article. I would like to rummage around in the archives and find items that are very relevant to our members today. Two more quilt blocks for the quilters, etc.! Tons of pictures for the "Decorating for America" series.....and much. much more. I ask everyone to please be a little patient with me. I promise the newsletter will be worth the waiting for. Many of our members have emailed me to ask about the status of the issue. I HATE to be off schedule with it. I really enjoy putting the issues together. I warned in the last issue that I may not be timely with the printing of the next few newsletters--I hope it wasn't a self-fulfilling prophesy. I am not going to quit this newletter gig. You will have to fire me! I would be very willing to turn the job over to someone who can do a better job in a more timely manner. I will be happy to help anyone get started putting the newsletter out. Since I print the issues myself (it is very timeconsumming) and since the cheap ink market has gone the way of many consumer goods, I am having to fill the ink cartridges from a bulk supply. Not easy with my vision problem.
I will get it done as soon as I can. Also, I will have to reprint all past newsletters at the same time. Theresa and Sonnja--I know that I owe you back issues. I will not forget to send them to you when I print up another batch. I'll try not to be too long.
I hope you are flattered that so many people are anxiously awaiting the newsletter! I'm sure they all would agree with me when I say, "We'll get it when we get it so PLEASE don't stress about it".
You know you're in my thoughts and prayers. Please don't hesitate to call if you decide you don't need the extra pressure of convention. I know fish and guests stink after 3 days:)
There is going to be a huge change in the way I put out the newsletter---all for the better! In the past, I have put the newsletter together and then printed it myself so we could have an all-color issue. To be honest, I love writing the newsletter but I HATE having to print it. My computer has become increasingly slow and after 9 days of printing off 2 1/2 of 14 pages, the printer suffered a major paper jam. I cannot clear it and I have received ineffective tech support. I called all the printing services in my area and the cheapest and fastest just happens to be in Hattiesburg where my son goes to school. It is only 64 miles from here and since it will save the club money, and should allow me to get the newsletter out in a timely manner (plus I won't have to print off the whole thing)----I am thrilled to do it!
So this is what you can expect. I will print the Member Profile page in color every quarter. If we have a half page, as we often do, it will also be in color. All the remaining pages will be in black and white. The newsletter should be out on time. At this point, until I can get my printer fixed, all back issues will go out in black and white. When I am able to print again, I will be glad to replace the black and white issues.
I will print this message and include it in the newsletter going out Monday. I want everyone to understand why there has to be a change in the newlsetter format. The content will not change, sorry, but the ease and length of time to print it, will. If anyone has problems with this, please direct your comments to me and not to other officers or board members. I am totally responsible for the way the newsletter has not been operating as it should be. I have taken the above steps to try to repair the damage that has been done and I will attempt to make the newsletter even better!
I can hardly wait. Pfaltzgraff may not be making our dishes anymore, but I really like seeing how our members decorate, display and add to our America! We have some talented people!
Half of the newsletters went out yesterday and the other half will go out today. It took about 10 minutes to print over 200 pages! Kinko's has copiers that print the front and back at the same time! I was impressed.
Just got my newsletter today and what a wonderful edition.
Thanks for all of your hard work, all who contributed to it as well as to Margaret for editing and publishing it. I've enjoyed what I've read thus far!
Got mine today, too! Good job! Especially enjoyed the member profile. If I can ever catch the mister and Bud taking a nap in their new recliner, I'll snap a pic and send to you:)
Well...glad you like the latest issue. Except it isn't the latest. Since I did not have to sit and print off all the pages in the "May" issue, I decided to separate the convention issue and print the first page in color. So....as soon as I can lable them for mailing they will go out into the mail. There is a picture of Janyce and me on the front page---chowing down at Emeril's. There is also a little New Orleans SURPRISE! in each issue.
I told Bill that you were going to take a picture of Dean and Bud taking a nap. He told me to tell Dean to keep his pants on because I took a picture of him in his drawers. Of course I cropped the picture, but he thought I was putting a picture of him in his briefs with his old white legs showing into the newsletter. I don't know where he got that idea! I would NEVER do something like that. Poor old Bill.
Poor Bill! Great newsletter as always! I guess we all need to give some help along the way to keep it going! Do we have deadlines yet for another newsletter? I will try!
Thanks for the GREAT newsletter! They've all been packed with interesting info. I was wondering why the convention info was missing...now I know. It will be nice to put a face to your name.
Funny thing about old Bill, he takes it all in his stride. I have never met a more down to earth, easy going person. I was very lucky to have found him.
The convention issue is going out to today. I finished printing it last night. It is a short, but sweet little number and was no problem to print. I thought we deserved an all color issue for the convention.
I need a volunteer for a Member Profile and I am working on my decorating for America series. I need pictures of handwork that you do. Any kind of needlework, etc. in any media, in any style. I have some crochet, crewel embroidery, crosstitch. I have one little mug rug that I hooked, and some knitting. You get the picture. In Feb. we will look at miscellaneous items. Antiques, old furniture, portraits, my sawblade and Indian and anything you may have that you want to show. The deadline is kinda early since we are a little behind. Please try to have something to me by the beginning of Oct. Thanks a million.
