Question of the Week ~ 05/12/09

We had a straight wind storm (70 mph) blow through last Friday morning which got me thinking.

If I had 1 minute to grab 1 thing and dash to safety, what would that 1 thing be?

Well, the mister had already left for work, so it wasn't him.  Bud the Wonder Cat was hiding under the bed where I couldn't reach him.  Don't have a clue where my wedding photos are.  The only things close at hand were my netbook and the new Nora Roberts book.  I could have run to the dining room and grabbed my Ivory Black out of the hutch I guess.  So I didn't grab anything but a flashlight cause the power went out.  We were very fortunate; didn't have any damage and power was restored by the end of the day.

What would your 1 thing be?

I am really curious to know where you folks would dash to safety?  We built our house to withstand hurricane force winds and I feel as if I am safer at my house than I would be anywhere other than in an underground bunker.  I have one interior room-a very small bathroom under the stairs.  Two people seeking refuge in the bathroom would have to be very good friends.  I'd bring a sleeping bag and Emmie would bring Mr. Squeaky.

Well, I was dashing to the bathroom which is in the middle of the house, no windows, no exterior walls. We don't have a basement but we do have a trapdoor in one of the closets that goes down into the crawlspace. Isn't that weird? I just don't know if I could force myself under the house.

I never even thought about grabbing my purse - duh.

Wednesday night there was another storm with slightly less wind but we both slept through it. That's kinda scary that I sleep that soundly but we survived so that's the important thing. Supposed to be another storm tonight/tomorrow. Why do I live in Kansas?

I would take Rosie-our dog and my purse. Really severe storms are very rare in our area.

i would take my box of pictures that i have yet to put in albums .storms are rare here so i would be safer in my home .i do not live in a flood zone so i guess other than a bad snow storm which would only keep me off the roads i feel pretty safe.
