Country Sampler

Hey Everybody!  I just got my Country Sampler (January 2010) and on page one is a Charger and the heart mugs on a shelf!  Also check out page # 114, I think that is the cutest Snowman Cookie Jar.  I wish it wasn't $77 !

I saw that and was going to post, but my magazine was downstairs and I did not remember page numbers! It is always a treat to see our pattern show up somewhere! Also,I saw the large bird on the front cover-is he the Folk Art limited edition bird? I remember seeing photos of the bird and I know the bird was listed on Ebay a few years ago and brought quite a price! I was not sure if it was the same bird!

I buy very few magazines anymore, well, many are no longer published! I have enjoyed Early American Life and have all my copies since the 1970's. I totally enjoy Country Sampler-it is always interesting and at the same time keeps everyone updated on new items out there!  Those are my favorites!

OOPS! I checked out the snowman-he is adorable! I also see the bird-in my earlier post is pictured there-he is Maple City Pottery! Apparently he is not the Folk art bird! I have a few pieces of Maple City Pottery,it is very nice quality pottery and can blend very nicely with Rowe Pottery,I especially like it with the Rowe historical pieces.

I'll have to check out that issue next time I'm at the Wal-Marts in the big city. Do you think the items belong to an individual - if so, I'd like to know who they are and how they got those pieces and why don't they come join us:)

Did anyone notice the Maple City Pottery toilet brush holder, tissue holder and paper towel dispenser! The are very expensive, but a cute idea! I want to check the Eldreth Pottery store in Strasburg one day next week and see if they have anything like it. They do have really beautiful pottery bathroom sinks in their redware and salt-glazed pottery. Check their website-Eldreth Pottery-it is all handthrown salt glazed and redware pottery made in Southern Lancaster County,PA. They have beautiful pottery.

I love Eldreth pottery. Was at the Strasburg store once about 10 yrs ago. Always wanted to go to the open house way down in Chester County, but never got there. they don't even send me mail anymore! I looked at their site last year, will have to revisit it soon.

I have not been to the original, plant location in years! I know they have open house sometime in May every year-they are still in Lancaster County at that location. The county line is down by the reservoir lake, just minutes south of their location. I first met the Eldreths about 25 years ago at a craft show in Lititz. We camped in Maryland every weekend over the summer and would practically pass his shop on our way. At that time it was a very small operation and Dave sold only at craft shows and at his small shop, with limited hours-how it has all grown! I love the pottery and I am hoping when we move I can use one of the bathroom sinks in a guest bath. I have not decided if it will be the salt glazed or redware-I love both types of pottery! I have a large collection of salt glazed pottery in my living room and a small collection of redware in my dining room-it will be a tough choice!

I stopped by the Eldreth Pottery store in Strasburg,PA  last Saturday! What a treat, but I restrained myself and bought just one of their Antique Santas! It was a tough decision as there were many beautiful ones to choose form! My Grand-daughter made the final decision.I also dropped a hint-anytime anyone needs a gift idea,I would love to have a few more!

I'm jealous. I would love to get over there. I work for Pottery Barn and there is the only outlet store anywhere around also located there. I get 40% off there so I should drive the 2 hours, but somehow that seems a bit far for one of my solitary jaunts!!!

Susan,is the Pottery Barn outlet at Rockvale Square or Tanger outlets? I have never been to Pottery Barn outlet, but I think I have seen it advertised! We go shopping at the outlets often as it is only about 15 minutes from my daughters home-about 45 minutes for me. Olive Garden is also at Rockvale Square and we all love to eat there! I will have to check Pottery Barn online and stop by there when we go shopping next time. I will be sure to post my findings! The whole area is great for all kinds of shopping, restaurants, entertainment,of course the Amish and many places to stay. If anyone travels to the area,Sight and Sound has a great live, Biblical theme play running yearround.Even live animals! Check out their website!

Today is not a good day to travel in this area-as in most parts of the mid to northeast! We are having a pre-Christmas snowstorm! They are predicting 6-14 inches for our area! We have about two inches here in Northern Lancaster County at this time-looks like lots more to come! The snow plow is on the tractor, the snowblower is all ready and the generator and 20 gallons of gas are in the shed-hubby is prepared for a change!!! I bought lots of ingredients for cookies,so I will be doing some baking as well as wrapping gifts-good things to do as watching the beautiful snow!

Wherever you are................enjoy your day, stay safe and stop to enjoy the little joys of the season!

I really don't know where exactly it is located. Have fun if you get to shop there!

We have about 8" on the ground and drifts over a foot so far. Also, it is windy. Supposed to continue until some time tomorrow morning. My work shift for tomorrow was switched to an on-call since they don't even know if the shopping center can be opened. It is a shame as it is the busiest shopping weekend of the season. Nice to be home, however. Wrapped the last gifts, cleaning my closet, doing some hand sewing repairs for my daughter. Husband cleaned some rugs. 11 year old tall black lab mix, Maxwell, loves going out and rolling in the snow. Of course, then I have a 91 lb large dog to attempt to dry!!!!

Saw the magazine. The shelf looked nice with the pea**** and the mugs!!!

Susan,I checked,it is at Rockvale Square Outlet! I will check it out within the next few weeks! I know we will go there shopping as my daughter is getting a few gift certificates for a store there!

We have about 10 inches right now and could get a lot more the way it looks. There is to be lots of wind and drifting through tomorrow. It sure is not weather we needed for the week before Christmas. It is not what many need at Christmas either! A few years ago we had a storm on Christmas Day,my brother was maintenence super at a large retirement and nursing home complex, needless to say,he did not have a holiday! Our electric went off shortly after we finished our meal! I would rather a green Christmas when I think back to that!!

Have a great evening all and stay safe!
