Hey, Deb!  Glad you found your way back:)

I think the bookends and the brochure holder are the only two things I might consider buying - I like the star lamp but I have NO place to put it - I never bought a quiche dish but when would I ever make quiche?  Never.  So why spend $$$ on a dish?  Gee, I'm either getting wise or cheap in my old age.

There was a brochure holder listed with some other items a few weeks ago. I don't think it brought a big price-not sure of the condition either. I have one so I did not really watch it for long. The bookends are also my most wanted,I think I have most everything else. I have two lamps, the star lamp I bought at the outlet when they were discontinuing the pattern. Hubby-with me bidding bought me the jug lamp for a gift a few years ago. I have the chip and dip,I bought many years ago at the outlet and have used it lots-you will enjoy that! Have fun redecorating!

According to the listing the brochure holder was in pretty bad shape. It was a throw-in for free with the couple mugs. I thought about it and didn't call my sil to bid on it for me.

Ok-that's why it did not sell for much! I wonder how one of those would have been in poor condition though-not really an item you would use-maybe someone did for something though!

I think the bookends are probably the most watched for item.  Has anybody ever seen them for sale anywhere. I think they did not make very many of them because i never see them. Does anyone have a picture of them. I have no ideea what they even look like. I WOULD LOVE A BOOK WITH EVERY PIECE OF AMERICA IN IT!!!!!

There were book ends on ebay a few years ago-they brought a big price! I have not seen any since then!

There are two sizes of dog dishes. The one is the size of the cat dish, the other larger. I have not seen any on ebay for quite a while, that I recall.

Debbie Miller has been working on a reference book. I cannot imagine what a mammoth task that would be. Hope we are all able to obtain a copy when available.

I had seen in the last newsletter, there was to be more information on the book in the next newsletter. If there are no newsletters how, will we be notified about the book? I would love a copy!

Yep, that is my bookend. It was listed incorrectly on eBay as a trivet, probably because it was missing the bracket to make it stand up...if I remember right I got it pretty cheap!

I went up to the town hardware store and they made me a heavy duty bracket for a dollar or two (basically an L shaped piece of metal) and glued it on with a special epoxy that bonds metal to pottery.

A member here had one to spare a few months later that was also missing the bracket and sold it to me at a great price (thanks, Annie!) so then I had a "set"of bookends. One is still at the computer hutch as in the photo and the other is beside my cookbooks by the kitchen sink.

I still don't have the pencil tray, they all seem so light in color compared to the rest of the desk set so I've just never bothered to go after one. I will pick one up one of these days.

I own the bookends in Village. That metal piece is just held on by the white sticky squares and mine are originals from Pfaltzgraff!!! So yours are actually held on better than the originals!!!

Reading the latest of exchanges certainly brings up an idea if one wants those unobtainable (seemingly so) bookends.  Get a pair of trivets, put them on bookends somehow and you've got a set of America bookends.

I don't know what they look like..my memory is vague.  If one wants a copy...get a set of trivets..send them to Pfatgraffcat...Christine...and she does beautiful reporductions and you can proceed to make the bookends.  There are a number of people we know that do gorgeous reproductions  of America.

Just ideas spouting after reading these posts.

hope all are well!

Sue

I did not know that!! I would worry that the sticky would give out on a humid day.

Mine are definitely sealed on tight, the epoxy came in a double barrel plunger...looked like a large syringe...and bonded porous to nonporous.

Sue - the regular trivets in the America pattern would probably be too big but I'll bet the By Request trivet with the peaco*ck would make a great bookend. That trivet is almost the same size as the original bookends.

I have a dog dish that I have never used.  I have a Lab, so her nose won't even fit into it.  I also have a kitty dish that has never been used.  I saw that listed on ebay for a little above $86.00!
