Is everyone ready for Spring? I saw a large flock of robins in my backyard on Sunday! BUT..................the weather forecast for tomorrow evening into Friday is not looking like Winter is ready to leave just yet!!
Had a male cardinal in the yard today and some mourning doves. It is supposed to snow a bit tomorrow and a lot Thursday afternoon into Friday. I finally put away my snowman collection that decorates my Family room and kitchen. Maybe that will help!!! Come on Spring!!!
We have had cardinals all winter-always do-they look beautiful against the snow! My husbands gets upset with them,he has a big garage down back and if he parks something outside the cardinals love the mirrors-they leave him gifts down the side!!
Sorry Girls, but the weather is beautiful here. Planted a large salad garden this weekend. About a dozen different lettuces, garlic, leeks and onions. Also some cilantro. Had some old calf feeders that I converted into lettuce boxes. Have Blue Jays and Cardinals and their spouses! Birds galore. There is something about watching birds that cheers me up! S0...hang in there! Spring is on its way.
Oh Margaret! Sounds so wonderful!! This sure seems like such a long Winter-although it probably has not been!! All the snow makes it seem that way! I can't wait to be outside working in the yard and flower gardens!
I spoke too soon. I woke up this morning and we had a few fat, fluffy flakes of snow. The sun in now shining bright and it is about 50 degrees. Go figure!
We are expecting something new- a snowercaine??? Winds up to 55 miles per hour. Never in my lifetime and I'm not young have we ever had a winter like this!!! I need spring and my garden like NOW!!!!!!
Margaret,50's sounds great! We had low 40's and sunny today-I loved it!
Susan,we are to have the same-those are some nasty winds! The winds may be around until Saturday! Hubby brought the small generator up to the house garage earlier,we can put it outside the garage door if needed! We will be able to keep our coal stove going with that,so at least we will have heat if we lose power. I am so ready for Spring! This sure has been a bad winter!
I want to thank you all for reinforcing, not that I needed it, our decision to retire to Arizona five years ago. After 50 plus years of shoveling snow, scraping car windows and clearing snow and ice off the roof we had had enough. Now the only snow we see is on the peaks of the White Mountains about 100 miles to our north. It's a beautiful sight from our patio or on the golf course at 70 degrees. I do miss the changing of the seasons and wouldn't have even thought of moving if the seasons went from spring to summer to fall and back to spring. Arizona does take getting used to, you plant your vegetable garden in November, when you do your Christmas shopping you also pick up mums, geraniums and petunias for the garden. I do hope you all see spring soon. It does seem to have been a miserable winter across most of the country.
I think I would miss the changing of the seasons but I could easily live with winter being done right after Christmas. Any place that is warm & sunny in the winter would be too hot for me to tolerate during the summer, but we may have to become snowbirds and head south from January to April when we retire!
