Ezra

Thought I'd make an announcement.  As some of you may know, I have had a Bouvier Des Flandres, named Tracy (aka Miz T) who was my companion, my Service Dog, my Therapy Dog, winner of 2005's Hero of the Year by the Bouvier national club for her work with me and our extensive volunteer work we did.   She crossed the Rainbow Bridge in Dec, at the ripe ol' age of 13.7.  She left behind quite a legency of kids, grandkids and great-grandkis.  In fact one of her grandaughters and great-grandaughters have trained  and certified to be Search and Rescue Dogs as well as Service Dogs and Therapy Dogs.  We went into many classrooms, to talk about handicaps and how various Service Animals help those with special needs.

I didn't think I'd get another pooch for a while.  Turns out Miz T's breeder has been "saving" a special dog for me for when the timing was right.   Three weeks ago, "Ezra", a 4 year old Bouvier entered my life.  He is the 4 yr old grandson of Miz T!  He is the easiest going, goofball, kissy bandit, intelligent gorgeous boy.  We've bonded quickly.  We're training with the gal who helped Miz T & Me become certified and we're going for the Canine good Citzenship Certificate, Service Dog, Therapy Dog, train to be my Hearing Dog (I'm deaf), and the breeder would like him to become a carting dog.  We're signed up to go to the preschool where T & Me volunteered at for 4 yrs this fall.   If all works out, I'm planning to pick up where I left off with T when I had to stop and take care of my dad....to develop programs to present to whomever,, information about various kinds of dogs, animals who help those with speical needs and the training that goes behind it.  Different groups.   Stories.    my trainer said she'd help me. I'm thinking in line of school assembly programs,  whatever.  We will begin to visit my father at his facility, I hope, this weekend.

Ezra has enriched my life already...making me laugh and just relax.  Miz T was "Queen Ladybug",...Ezra is simply a lovebug.  I think he will relate well to others as I see.  We are slowly doing the training of exposing him to variou senvironments.

just wanted to share.   He truly is unique.

Hug and enjoy your beloved furkids...they are precious.

Sue

What a neat story about Ezra! It's really nice that there are still good people in this world to care about others.

Debbied I think you are ready for your cat. That's what will really fill your void. the cat will be yours and I'm sure there is a cat out there that wants to love you.

I hear that cats can live a long time...19 yrs?  Wow...enjoy SAdie!

I thought , for those who are interested, here is a mini website that I made years ago..just found it again.  Miz T is Ezra's "Granny-T".  They met last June when Ezra was in the local  Bouvier Club speciality and won his catagories, and Miz T strutted around the ring one last time with her beloved breeder in the Veteran's  showing.

Ezra looks very much like his Granny-T, but has a lite gray beard under his moth and more of a gray mix.

Congrats to you, Susie-Q, on your new companion. May you have many years of happiness together.

Debbie, I resisted getting another cat after our Hairy cat died several years ago at the age of 17. We adopted Bud from the humane society last December. He's a good boy and has brought us much entertainment (and aggravation) but I'm glad we've got him.

Sue that is so wonderful to hear!  We all love our pets and miss them when they are no longer with us-I am sure you especially do. We never replace them,as they all have their own wonderful personalities,we just move on to the future with our new friends. We do the same when we lose family and friends we love-we cherish the memories and all the time we had together and go into the future. Anyway.......I think you have found another wonderful companion,it's so nice!

Enjoy Ezra-he sounds wonderful!!! My father in law was a dog trainer during WWII stationed in Kittery, Me. He had pictures of all his dogs with names written on them. He had more pictures of the dogs than he did of his fellow soldiers. Dogs can be trained to do so many helpful things and the idea of school assemblies is so important so kids at a young age can appreciate the help offered by our furry friends.

I had the opportunity to be in a resource room in an elementary school supervising a Student Teacher last fall where the teacher was in charge of raising a lovely German Shepherd boy for the Seeing Eye program. Xeres was in the classroom 3 days a week. the teacher was told to socialize him and also to take him to restaurants for lunch. She was concerned that he was becoming a bit of a barker and she wasn't sure if he would make it, but what a lovely dog he was and what a neat experience for the kids in that school!!!

We have a ten and a half yr old Black lab mix( or small black horse as people lovingly describe him ) named Max. He came to live with his grandparents (us) when my son's ex girlfriend moved into a non dog friendly apartment. My daughter has a lovely, gorgeous, goofy, energetic flashy brindle boxer named Stella who is 2 years old. When my daughter had a baby girl 7 months ago, Stella decided that she had a puppy and they are constant companions. The dog lays on my daughter when she is nursing the baby and occasionally turns around to give Braelyn a messy boxer kiss. We have a five foot fence around our property. I was talking to my neighbor over the fence when springs for legs Stella jumped straight up and the cute, adorable, ugly boxer face wound up eye to eye with my neighbor! What a nut!! We had a wonderful larger male boxer for almost thirteen years. He has been gone for 5 years now. He was my first dog and I still miss him terribly.

Dogs and cats are wonderful companions who really enrich our lives.

I love our little Emmie Magnolia but Trixie was my best friend. It has been a little over a year since she died and I still grieve for her. She was the best. I have a young catahoula cur with golden "glass" eyes. He is SO mean looking. He comes to work with me and sits under my porch. I have a large clump of rosemary planted by my steps and he sits behind the plant and stares out. He looks so mean. I would never approach him if he wasn't my own dog. He is a great big baby and is fairly well behaved. We have a "gaggle" of cats like you would find on any farm.
