Question of the Week ~ 07/28/09

I'm totally blank this week so I hopped over to Christine's MB to see what those girls are up to.  You should check out the pictures of her new house - gorgeous!  Anyway, read a thread about Christmas dishes.

Do you have Christmas dishes?  Are they Pfz?  Do you use them for Christmas dinner only or are they in daily use during the season?

Jump on in and, as they say on CNN, join the conversation!

I guess I could answer my own question, couldn't I?

Nope, don't have Christmas dishes. Thought Pfz was going to come through with some America long ago but that didn't happen:( I do have an angel in America colors that Christine painted a feather tree on for me and lots of ornies from Miz M but no dishes.

No Christmas dishes either-I was also waiting for Christmas America! I use my America. I decorate the dining room tree with angels, stars and some of Margaret's ornaments.  What is Christine's site-I lost all my old info when my other computer went down.

I have some Nordic Christmas that I picked up service for 4 and some serving pieces in a box for ten dollars at a flea market. Of course, then I had to add accessory pieces to it so in Dec. 2007, I had my daughter bid for me on e-bay. That became my holiday gift. I had already owned a few pieces of it from the outlets. I use a couple pieces of red Fiesta ( the new red) with it. After the holidays, I then accessorize with blue and leave it up during most of the winter since it has snowflakes on it and colors other than red and bright green.

I collect a PFZ pattern called Holiday Spice.  I started collecting it in October of 2005 and they discontinued it 31 Dec 2005!  Sound familiar???

It is very warm and slighly country with hearts, stars, holly etc. decorating the small plates, etc.  There are lots of serving pieces and like Susan, I can use the cinnabar, or the rose, or the mint Fiesta pieces to accessorise.

Thanks Deb! I will check it out again! I remember looking at Christine's items. It's a bummer when you lose everything on your hard drive-I do back-up occasionally now!

Margaret,I was very close to buying the Holiday Spice pattern. I looked at it a few times at the outlet and decided to wait until after the holidays to start collecting-so glad I did. I would have had a serving for eight and need about 20 or more usually! I really do like it though! Can you find pieces on ebay or was it so short lived and nothing is out there? I never researched it or even watched for it at area flea markets after it was discontinued.

I had a small collection of Nordic Christmas at one time & an even smaller collection of Winterberry...both long gone.   I did very well selling them off on ebay.  I liked the patterns due to the fact that they were not only a holiday pattern, but, a winter pattern as well.  I do have a service for 8 in the Christmas Folk Art, but, have never used it...I've alot of Folk Art & even more America that I've never used, but, I've just got to have it smile.gif  I'm getting a little better now & have started using alot more hahaha & have even considered parting with a little more again as it's been years since I went through the stashes to thin out.  HOnestly I don't know where I'd store another Christmas pattern if I were to get the bug again!

I don't have Christmas dinner dishes but I have a few Christmas plates to do Christmas Cookie Parties with.  Maybe we could do some kind of Cookie exchange this Christmas.  It so much fun.
I too was hoping for Christmas America.
I couldn't get anywhere with that website.  Help!

Janyce, Bill gave me that cabinet a couple of years agp for our anniversary.  He knew I needed a storage place for the expanding Holiday Spice collection.  He is a travelling salesman for a logging equipment company and eats lunch on the road everyday.  He was a regular at a cafe down in Louisiana. The restaurant was going out of business and had a for sale sign on this cabinet.  Old Bill, ever thinking of his dear wife, brought it home to me.  How sweet!  Anyway, it is perfect for the Christmas china.  I use it the day after Thanksgiving through New Years Day!

Thelma--there is tons of it on eBay.  That is the only place I've ever bought any!

Janyce, I'm up for the cookie exchange!  I'll do pecan tartlets.  Deb says they ship very well.  I'm gonna send her some fruit cake cookies.  Don't tell!
