For those of you are still collecting the Pfaltzgraff miniature series the 9th issue in the series is now available to be ordered.
The order number is 5066773 and price is $19.99
There is also a Curio Cabinet Plaque available, designed to go on the Black Curio Cabinet. It is item number 5055663 and price is $9.99. I had not seen it before.
The Cookie Jar looks like it will be cute.
I haven't been able to read the posts for quite awhile as I lost all my favorites on our computer. It is good to be back reading the posts and to see that Margaret is back. I have really missed her. Thanks Deb, for all you do, and it's good to see posts from Laura.
Best wishes to all you America lovers! Marie McDonald
Hi, Marie! Good to see you - thanks for the kind words.
I didn't start the bicentennial collection so I had to go take a peak @ pfz.com. That's a pretty cute little train. I like the mini curio cabinet as well. Are these items now produced outside the US?
I looked at the top ten dish patterns while I was there. Can't say I care for any of them other than Naturewood. Most seem kind of garish to me but then I painted my walls classic taupe so I'm a beige kind of girl.
Stop by often - maybe we can get a conversation or two going.
I loved the idea of the plaque for the curio. I collected all the pieces so far. Some I loved and some not so much! Does anyone know how many there will be?
I never started collecting these,I collect enough things! But,it sure is good to see some new postings here! I was about to ask if anyone is out there!!
I have been collecting the Bicentennial set from the beginning but did not order the Yorktowne soup tureen last year. Although my mother has a large collection of that pattern I just don't care for it and couldn't bring myself to buy it.
I had completely forgotten that it was the time of year for another item to come out so I'm glad I checked in for new messages today. The cookie jar train is really cute! I'm pretty sure it was not one of the original planned pieces for the set so I don't know which one it took the place of instead.
I know there was suppose to be a set of 3 miniature pastel colored mixing bowls and I thought another crock was planned. The Folk Art club's website had a photo of the 10 planned Bicentennial pieces from a visit some of the members took at a Pfaltzgraff-hosted event. That was back when the collection was being introduced and before Pfaltzgraff sold out to Lifetime Brands. I don't know if the Folk Art club is still in existence and if they still have the photo posted somewhere...is anyone here still a Folk Art club member?
Anyhow, I ordered the cookie train (but it's on backorder) and I went ahead and ordered the miniature soup tureen from last year so I would have the full set when next year's final piece is offered. If anyone hasn't ordered yet there is a coupon code for 15% off of regular priced items. The code to type in at the promotion box is: NEXTPURCHASE
I don't have the curio cabinet as I have some of my bicentennial pieces downstairs in my family room and some on the bookcase in my living room. I thought about ordering the plaque anyhow...but on closeup it kind of looks like the typical cheap China made stuff. I will wait to hear if anyone else buys it and what their opinion is of how it looks.
While looking around the Pfaltzgraff site I noticed a large platter that might go well with our America colors. The pattern is called Palladium and comes in a cobalt blue or a chestnut brown. At 16" the platter is plenty big enough for a turkey and it is on clearance for $9.99! I spent a small fortune tracking down the last Rowe pottery indigo turkey platter in stock...when it became obvious that we were not going to get a turkey platter in the America pattern. The Palladium in blue looks pretty close in color to the 16" Rowe platter and at a fraction of the cost!
Hi Marie! Yeah, I finally have a little more time on my hands again. I couldn't take the up at 5:30am and home at 6:30pm 5-6 days a week anymore and I just went back to working power weekends. Now I just have to spend the next several months getting my house spring cleaned!
There are supposed to be 10 pieces in the Bicentennial collection. They are not made in the US. (They are made in China). I believe that David Walsh was the designer for the collection - I know for sure that he was involved when the collection first was being produced. He told us that at a PACC convention.
I like the pieces that are like older pieces. The vase & other cookie jar as more modern - but they are definitely pieces that were in the Pfaltzgraff line, and the series was to represent pieces they have made over the years.
We'll see how well they do in making this piece. They have had production problems and had to redo them in some other years.
The lady I talked to on the phone was very helpful. She says they have lost quite a few people due to downsizing. She also said the 2 big snowstorms really were hard and they were 3 weeks behind in answering emails, but are now caught up.
After 10 good years the FA group shut down...some went to Christine's forum. I vaguely remember the picture, it's gone, I don't remember who posted it. wish I had a better memory of the bicentennial pieces in more detail from this pic... I think a few were hand sketches. It was taken 2002 at an event to show off the by request connections product. The attendees paid to get in & shopped the tent sale early before the general public. Sorry I can't help more with the picture.
If y'all haven't checked out Christine's forum, I urge you to do so at the link listed above. Lots of good information and friendly, talented folks. I admit I don't post often but I do lurk on occasion. I believe that's the form that a weekly email is sent out listing the most recent conversations. Reminds me to check in there.
Hi Sonnja - That is such a shame, the Folk Art club was so strong! I think it has been hard to keep members engaged since the demise of Pfaltzgraff as we knew it.
Hi Deb - I did go to Christine's site and I've joined up, probably won't post much either but it is good to stay on top of any news. I need to have Christine make me up another set of those painted America eggs...only they need to be made out of wood this time! My kitty cat thinks they are meant for her entertainment. She likes to swat them out of the vegetable bowl they sit in and they don't survive the encounter with ceramic floor tile.
